Being One with Nature

There are times in life when magic and reality blend in and we don´t know whether we are part of a movie or we are just living in the real world. Last weekend I had the opportunity to experience magic first hand. I spent the weekend with a group of friends in South Lake Tahoe and I got to experience the elements and their magic.

The place was spectacular! In the back of the cabin we were staying in, there was a river flowing. We were surrounded by trees, rocks and birds. The energies of Nature were running high in this location and I couldn´t help but tap into the power of the animal spirit. The trip began with my best friend handing me a big stick that became my power staff as soon as I grabbed it. He gave me this stick to help me balance while walking on a log on top of the river. It was scary to try to get to the rock and not fall in the water but the adrenalin rush was exhilarating and it was an amazing experience. I could feel my Maiden Queen coming out and saying come on!!!! No Fear!!! Just Do It!

In the evening, I enjoyed summoning the wind and feeling the Silfides all around playing with me. You could feel the power of the wind blowing and moving the trees. It was such a powerful experience feeling it blow with such a strength but I was deeply grounded and asking for more.

On Saturday, I continued my journey with the elements and I decided it was time for me to cross the river. I went for a hike by myself and as I reached the shores of the stream, I felt compeled to cross it. The current was very strong and I know I may have been a little out of my mind to attempt such a thing but once again, my Maiden spirit was saying... Do it!!!!! Feel the power of the current and go with it. You can do it. As I started crossing the river, I could feel my legs shaking because the current was so hard and as I stopped to gain balance I was thinking... you should keep moving, this is freezing water and your feet will freeze. I reached the other end of the river and I was filled with accomplishment but that was not it, I had to go back to the other shore to get back to the cabin so I started my way back and in the middle of the stream, I grabbed a rock as a reminder of me crossing the river so every time I feel like I am not strong enough, I can remember this day and this time. When I got back to the shore, I did my happy dance and six blue jays came to talk to me and celebrate I had crossed the river! There were some crows too. I felt a little bit like Snow White connecting with the animals from the forest but it was one of the most empowering moments in my life. I felt I was alive and I could conquer my fears.

Looking back, I know it was a snowboarding weekend that turned into my first full blown Druid experience. I couldn´t help but think about the book I am reading "The Path of Druidry by Penny Billington" when she says... a modern druid is one that is reading a book and stops looks around, notices the spider and says hello to her, then goes back to the book. I did a lot of mundane things during the weekend but I definitely stopped, observed nature and pay my reverence and devotion to Mother Nature in all her forms.

Many blessings,
